As businesses return to work will safety slip or will it be enhanced?
As businesses return to work will the general safety slip as the focus is on Covid-19 prevention or will it be enhanced? Everyone has been overloaded with so much information and misinformation regarding SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19 that we run the risk of people forgetting the safety basics when they return back to the workplace.
With new rules, revised work practices and different layouts to contend with, how many companies are planning to conduct refreshers on the existing policies?
Cleaning teams may be asked to perform different tasks and/or use new or additional chemicals for Covid-19 infection control which may require additional PPE not covered in the existing PPE and COSHH training programs.
Before introducing anything new the risk assessments need to identify these risks and the mitigation needed to negate the risk to the acceptable control level.
Infection control will for almost every business become part of their safety management system for the future, lets make sure we do not forget the rest of the management system.
